Greville Verney was born circa 1586, the son of Sir Richard Verney
(died1630) and Margaret (née Greville) Verney, 6th Baroness Willoughby de Broke
(c1561-1631). He inherited the title 7th Baron Willoughby de Broke and 15th Baron Latimer on the death of his mother in 1631. He married on May 13, 1618 Catherine Southwell, daughter of Sir Richard Southwell. On his death on May 12, 1642 the title passed to his only son, Greville Verney
