The Guardians were first introduced at the 2011 NHL All-Star Game. Guardian Media reached an venture agreement with NBCUniversal in June for further media projects from movies to television series and promotion for an equity in the company. In September, Guardian Media, SLG Entertainment, Anthony Chargin, and Jake Shapiro were sued by Adam Asherson who claimed Chargin, Shapiro and Asherson original created this project under the name "Defenders" for the National Football League
in 2003 to include Stan Lee but fell through.
