. A single 3000 feet (914.4 m) x 150 feet (45.7 m) coral surfaced runway was constructed shortly afterwards. The runway was expanded to 6500 feet (1,981.2 m) x 225 feet (68.6 m) and a parallel runway of 6000 feet (1,828.8 m) x 60 feet (18.3 m) was also built, together with 110 hardstands. The airifeld was also known as Woodlark Airfield. The airfield was used as a stopover point and refuelling point.
