Guettard Range is a mountain
range, 40 nautical miles (70 km) long and 10 nautical miles (18 km) wide, located northwest of Bowman Peninsula
and between the Johnston and Irvine Glaciers, in the southeast extremity of Palmer Land
. The feature was photographed from the air by Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition
(RARE), 1947-48. It was mapped from United States Geological Survey
(USGS) surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961-67. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names
(US-ACAN) for French naturalist and geologist Jean Etienne Guettard, 1715-86.
