Common names include Membrillo, Sachamango and Heaven Lotus. These plants are noted for having very long leaves (exceeding 1m) and large flowers (mostly to 12 cm in diameter). The trunks themselves are mostly 6-10m high with the leaves radiating from the top (like palms). Branches are uncommon.
