than the LA State Historic Park in downtown Los Angeles that gathered two dozen acts over the course of 12 hours. Once cleared, party-goers entered and finally got an opportunity to actually see the greenery, the stages and the food trucks. Two stages lined back-to-back pumped out beats while party-goers danced, lounged on one of the many small hills that offered unfettered views of the main stage. This was a dance party.

Nearly 10,000 people passed through the festival gates in the park beneath Chinatown. The main stage was pointing northeast, which meant that the crowd on the hill had no choice but to look towards Los Angeles, the lights of the city skyline fading into the lights. The message was clear: This was a Los Angeles festival. Coachella for the hipsters... and for the dancing-inclined, we have the Hard Summer Music Festival.
