. HCA, a for-profit hospital corporation, purchased these hospitals in 2003 from Health Midwest, Inc., a non-profit hospital corporation. HCA's focus nationwide has been to realign their facilities to better serve primary markets and avoid duplication of services. Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center, one of the HCA Midwest Hospitals, closed in April 2006. Centerpoint Medical Center opened in May 2007. Lee's Summit Medical Center, opened in a new Lee's Summit location in August 2007.
