She was laid down in February 1914, launched 14 November 1914 and commissioned into the navy in June 1915. On the outbreak of war she was assigned as the leader of the 4th Destroyer Flotilla of the Grand Fleet, but in 1916 she was reassigned to the 5th Light Cruiser Squadron, Harwich Force

, guarding the eastern approaches to the English Channel

. In 1917, she was assigned to the 7th Light Cruiser Squadron of the Grand Fleet. She survived the war, but was considered obsolete before the outbreak of the Second World War and was arrived at the yards of McLellan in October, 1931 to be broken up.
