HVDC HelWin1

HVDC HelWin1 is a planned HVDC link, which should connect the offshore wind park Northsea East with the power grid of the German mainland
. The link will consist of a 130 kilometres long bipolar cable, from which 45 kilometres will be laid on land underground.
As valves IGBTs will be used. The operation voltage will be 250 kV, the maximum transmission rate 576 MW.
The converter station for feeding the power of Northsea East Windpark will be situated on the offshore platform HelWin Alpha, that for feeding the power in the 380 kV grid at Büttel
at 53°55′01"N 9°13′55"E.
The link is expected to be completed in 2013.
