Habib Salih

Habib Salih or Salih bin Alawi Jamal al-Layl (1853-1936) was an Islamic scholar and saint who resided in Lamu
, Kenya
. He was born to a Sharifian
family of Arab Hadhrami descent in the Comoros
, but went to Lamu
to study at some point between 1876 and 1885. After completing his studies he taught in Lamu and eventually founded the Riyadha mosque and madrassa. He was also a physician.
He was a member of the Ba 'Alawi sada and a part of the Ba 'Alawi tariqa sufi order.
