Hackensack University Medical Center has been designated as a magnet hospital since 1995 after it became the first hospital in the country to receive the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence by the ANA

Creamer Trauma Center (Emergency Department); the Hekemian Conference Center; The Hillcrest Building; the George Link Jr. Pavilion which houses the Banta Lobby, Emil Buehler Helipad, and the Samuel Toscano Sr. Surgical Suite; Johnson Hall; The Patient Pavilion; and St. John’s Building.
In addition to its main facilities, HackensackUMC maintains offices around the parameter of its campus as well as in downtown Hackensack. Located at 25 East Salem Street in the Urban Plaza Building is the Center for Trauma Recovery, the QUEST Adult Outpatient Program, Health Awareness Regional Program (HARP), the Geriatric Assessment Program, the Hospice Program, and HUMC’s Home Health Agency; a block away at 25 Salem Street is HUMC’s The Access and Assessment Center, and a block away from there at 301 Union Street is the Wellington Health Care Center.

In 2011, the John Theurer Cancer Center opened a $130-million, 155,000-square-foot new building that houses the 14 specialty divisions along with research and oncology services.
The lobby features a flight of 200 soaring Murano glassblown birds and an inspiring Living Wall made of over 30 plant species, all hydroponically growing without soil and accompanied by a 24-foot waterfall. The wall breaks down indoor air contaminates through entirely natural processes, releasing purer, cleaner air.

; and its fifth, which is a part-time unit, is stationed at 72 Kimmig Avenue in Lodi
at the Volunteer Ambulance Corps during its hours of operation. A sixth unit is stationed in Garfield is a hybrid ALS unit and Specialty Care Transport Unit. That unit is in a specially equipped ambulance and is transport capable.
