, Japan. It is one of the trunk lines operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company
(JR Hokkaido).
Construction of the line began with the Otaru - Sapporo segment in 1880, and was completed by 1898.
Hokkaidō Shinkansen
stations are planned to be built at Oshima-Ōno, Kutchan, Oshamambe, and Sapporo.
