During their early years Alaska and Windnbreeze were active members of the Atoms Family
, a well known group of Emcees and DJs in New York's Hiphop undeground. During their time working with the rest of the family they made songs like "Prison" on the Euphony album which personified the unique sound they were to have and the solo success they would become. The group's name is a reference to the aircraft hangar at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base which is said to house a crashed UFO from the Roswell incident.
In 2002 they picked up DJ PaWL and on June 15 of 2004 Hangar 18 released The Multi-Platinum Debut Album
, the first solo album for the trio and the album that set the wheels in motion for a highly anticipated sequel. October 23 of 2007 the sequel had arrived. The group released Sweep the Leg
.
On February 24, 2009 the trio, after all of their success, announced their breakup. They said that the inspiration that held them together was no longer there and it wouldn't have been fair to themselves or their fans to continue to make music that they weren't passionate about.
Windnbreeze started a business with his fiance and is doing well. He stated that he has said everything he feels there is to say and has no desire to make music any longer.
paWL continues to write and direct commercials. He now enjoys more time with his family.
Alaska has started another project with his friend/producer Kojo called "Alaska and Kojo are: The Crack Epidemic". Kojo is on the beats and Alaska is on vocals. By the February date of the formal announcement of their breakup Alaska has said they have finished their first EP "Woke up this morning?" and have started work on their full length album tentatively titled "Fuck That Pretty Boy Shit".
