between Hangzhou
and Huangshan. It will run 262km through Zhejiang
and southern Anhui
province and will accommodate trains traveling at speeds up to 250km/h. Travel time from Hangzhou to Huangshan will be reduced to about one hour.
The project was approved by the State Development and Planning Commission in July 2010. Construction may begin later in the year and is scheduled to be completed by 2013. The line will bring the mountainous counties of southern Anhui closer to the Yangtze River Delta
region.
