's cabinet and in 1991 the first female President of the Berlin Parliament
and the first after the Reunification of Germany.
In 1983 Laurien ran against Eberhard Diepgen
within the CDU for the candidacy as Mayor of Berlin, from 1986 to 1989 she was the Vice Mayor of Berlin.
Laurien was member of the parish of Mater Dolorosa (Berlin-Lankwitz)
and died in Berlin.
