Unhappy about his unfinished business with Hardcase, Hardwire seeks him out. Hardcase once again defeats him. At that moment the creature NM-E

 attacked. Hardwire is rendered unconscious by the killing machine, and found by a man calling himself the Genius. The Genius helps Hardwire recover and augments his abilities, to the point where he would be more than a match for Hardcase.

Due to the effects of Black September Event changing reality, Hardcase was removed to limbo. Hardwire's whereabouts are unknown.
