Harekrishna Deka

Harekrishna Deka was formerly a member of the Indian Police Service
before taking writing full time. He was the Director General of Police for Assam
(2000–2003).
Harekrishna Deka is one of the most prominent poet-critics of his generation. He started writing poems and short stories from his student days. He was one of the most prolific writers of Assam's Ramdhenu Era.
He was Awarded the Sahitya Academi award for his poetic contribution in Ann Ejan in 1987.He was awarded katha award for his short story Bandiyar [prisoner] in 1995.After retiring as the DGP of assam Mr. Deka was the editor of the English daily Sentinel for a short stint and then served as the editor of the Assamese literary monthly Gariyasi for some time.
He has won The Assam Literary Award for 2010.
He is a sensitive poet and short story writer and published a number of collection of short stories and poems.The most prominent among them are
