from 1946 to 1957. He was a U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1957 to 1959.

on March 2, 1959, to a seat vacated by William H. Kirkpatrick. He was confirmed by the United States Senate
on September 9, 1959, and received his commission on September 10, 1959. He assumed senior status
on June 24, 1971. Wood served in that capacity until December 17, 1972, due to his death.
