History

The parish of Harran was created as a municipality on 1 July 1923 when it was split off from the municipality of Grong

. Initially, the municipality of Harran had a population of 630. On 1 January 1964, Harran was reunited with Grong. Prior to the merger, Harran had a population of 1,085.
