Hatton Canyon is a protected area in Monterey County, California
. It was under the control of the CalTrans, due to plans dating from 1952 calling for a freeway to be constructed through the canyon, until Governor Gray Davis
signed it over to the California State Parks in 2002. It is currently accessible to the public at Carmel Valley Road via a dirt trail. Plans to pave the trail to allow bicycle access were set aside in 2009 due to concerns of some neighbors.
