. HealthBridge is one of the nation’s largest and most successful RHIOs or health information exchanges (HIEs) according to the eHealth Initiative's Value and Sustainability Model and the Center for Studying Health System Change.
HealthBridge is a not-for-profit founded in 1997 as a community effort to develop a common technology infrastructure for sharing health information electronically in the Greater Cincinnati tri-state area. Its mission is to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare in their community.
As a result of HealthBridge and its community partners’ efforts, more than 30 million clinical tests, images, and other clinical results are transmitted each year to authorized physicians through HealthBridge’s secure electronic network. HealthBridge works with 24 hospitals, nearly 5000 physician users, 17 local health departments, dozens of physician offices and clinics, as well as nursing homes, independent labs, radiology centers and other health care entities in the Greater Cincinnati area. HealthBridge has facilitated the creation of an integrated and interoperable community healthcare system. This includes the adoption of community standard technologies and work processes.
