The Heartland Pagan Festival is a yearly pagan
festival
held every Memorial Day
weekend near the Kansas City
area, on private land near McLouth, Kansas
. The festival was started by the Council of the South Winds which hosted their first festival on June 27-29th, 1986. After the second festival was celebrated in 1987, the organizers incorporated as a non-profit organization called the Heartland Spiritual Alliance on September 19, 1988.
Each year since 1986, Pagans
from all over the American Midwest gather over the Memorial Day weekend to celebrate their differences and their commonalities, and to teach about their diverse paths, cultures, traditions and practices. A special Memorial Day
service is also held to honor those who have fought for freedom in service of the United States.
The theme for the 2012 Heartland Pagan Festival will be "Dawning of a New Day".
