He was the father of Henri Padou, Jr.
In 1920 he was a member of the French water polo team which was eliminated in the first round of the Olympic water polo competition
. Padou played in the only match and scored the only goal. He was also a member of the French freestyle relay team which was eliminated in the first round of the 4 x 200 metre freestyle relay event
. In the 100 metre freestyle competition
he was also eliminated in the first round.
Four years later at the Paris Games he won the gold medal with the French water polo team. He played all four matches and scored three goals. With the French freestyle relay team he was eliminated in the semi-finals 4 x 200 metre freestyle relay event
