, but later generations genetically modified their species to be superior to 'old humans' in strength, speed, stamina and intellect, and became known to their descendants as the 'Originators'. They then planned to release a virus that would have genetically rewritten the DNA of human newborns so that all of them would become Heran Augments, their ultimate plan being conquering and replacing their progenitor species. This plan was thwarted by renegade Herans who were aided by the crew of the Enterprise-D
