Dr. Herbert Albrecht was a Gauleiter
of the National Socialist German Workers Party
(NSDAP) from 1930 until 1931.

on January 12, 1900. Protestant. He attended the Realgymnasium and in 1918 he was admitted as an army officer-Cadet in Anh.Infanterie-Regiment 93. In 1919 he took his final highschool examination in Halle, classes for war veterans, and was part of Freikorps Halle and Freikorps Anhalt.
In September 1919, Albrecht was assigned to Reichwehr Infanterie-Regiment 49 as officer candidate (Fahnenjunker-Gefreiter). He was a member of the Reichshammerbundes (Theodor Fritsch) and the Deutsche-Völk. Schutz-und Trutzbundes. Between 1919 and 1925, Albrecht was an agricultural worker, apprentice and a civil-servant in Holstein
. He also was a student in Berlin
, Rostock
and Giessen.
In 1920, Albrecht helped organize the Deutsch Sozialen Partei in Berlin. Between 1923 and 1925 he was successively Gruppen-, Zugführer and Fahnenträger in the Nationsozialistische Hundertschaft Charlottenburg (later Sturm 33, Maikowski).
In 1925, Albrecht received his doctorate
(phil.agr.) and in 1926-27 he was an unpaid administrator in Vogtland
. In 1926 Albrecht was a candidate for the Sächs. Landtag and on May 11, 1926 he joined the NSDAP (member 35 916). In 1927, as a private citizen in Altenburg
, Albrecht was active in the NSDAP becoming one of their speakers and writers. He was also a contributor to the Nazi newspaper Völkischer Beobachter
since 1924.
In July 1930, Albrecht was made Gauleiter of Mecklenburg-Lübeck and in September was made a member of the Reichstag
for Dresden-Bautzen (Wkr.28). He voluntarily resigned as Gauleiter in 1931 and from 1931 to 1933 he was chairman of the Faction for Economics in the Reichstag
and deputy chairman of the Committee of Supply. He was a member of the Economic Counselors for the Reich-Leadership and in 1933 was deputy to the Reichsrat (Reich-Counselor) – Thüringen. He was also Special Representative of the Thüringen Government in Berlin. Other activities in 1933 include being a member of the Kleinen und Grossen Arbeitskonvents of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF), and a member of the Verwaltungsrats der Reichspost.
