. Heritage Academy is a fully accredited member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), and the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS).
Campus
The school is located in north Columbus. The campus comprises 25 acres (101,171.5 m²), with two major classroom buildings serving students the elementary and high school areas. In addition to the gymnasium, athletic facilities include a lighted football field, baseball field, and a softball field. Also included are an indoor baseball/softball practice facility and a sports complex.
Faculty
Within a staff of approximately 70, the faculty number 60, of whom over 40 percent hold advanced degrees and all participate in opportunities for continued professional growth and development.
Curriculum
Heritage Academy offers a traditional college preparatory curriculum, including honors programs in math, science, and English, and Advanced Placement courses.
Athletics
The athletic program begins with a comprehensive physical education program at theElementary school and culminates in a variety of competitive sports at the Junior High and High School levels including football, soccer, baseball, basketball, track, cross country, golf, swimming, tennis and softball. The school takes pride not only in the successes of various teams, but also in the number of participants. Also contributing to the school spirit, are the Junior High and Varsity cheerleader squads, the Junior High and Varsity dance teams and the spirit band.
Service Learning Project
Each student in grades 9-12 will average 25 hours of community service per year in order to earn 100 documented hours by March 31 of the senior year.
