 dedicated to the standards based model. It is the first standards based school in the Anchorage School District (ASD) and had its first graduating class on May 31, 2006. Dr. Ginger L. Blackmon joined the Highland Tech staff in 2009 as its current principal. Ms. Laura Hilger was named as the new Assistant Principal in May 2010, replacing Ms. Rebecca Midles who will be continuing her relationship with Highland Tech through her work with the Re-Inventing School Coalition.

ILP Forms and C.O.R.E.

Students have the opportunity to fill out an, "Individual Learning Plan

," or, "ILP," so they can cover standards they missed or ones they have not worked on. The student may choose a standard or standard(s) and an activity that covers the standard(s) then record it on an ILP form. The ILP must then have a teacher signature, and a parent signature to make it official. Highland Tech also gives students the opportunity to leave school an hour and twenty minutes early on "Exploratory Friday" once a month if they have filled out an Off Campus ILP form allowing them to take part in a learning opportunity off-campus.

Highland Tech Charter School strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment by students, staff and parents who follow the "C.O.R.E" (Culture of Respect for Everyone) policy.
