 including the still current world record in the 4 x 200 metres relay and numerous national records around the world.

The stadium, dedicated on October 8, 1948 is now named after Hilmer Lodge, who created the relays in 1959. Lodge, who died in 1977, was part of the inaugural Mt. SAC Relays Hall of Fame.

The stadium is also the finish for the famous Mt. SAC Cross Country course, which hosts as many as 17,000 participants to the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, as well as playing host to the CIF Southern Section
