Honey Baked Ham

HoneyBaked Ham is a company started in 1957 by Harry Honsaeller in Michigan. Honsaeller invented the spiral slicer and marketed his idea to various companies. When no company was interested enough in his spiral slicer, he decided to open his own ham store.
Honsaeller died in 1974 from ALS
(otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease). However, he left his business in equal parts to each of his daughters, and as of December 2010, there were over 40 corporate Honey Baked Ham stores across the country, as well as some 400 franchise locations.
