Founded in September 1998, it was the first organisation in Hong Kong to focus solely on the issue of sustainable development. Co-founders of the HKSDF include Terri Mottershead (Honorary Research Fellow in the Centre of Urban Planning and Environmental Management at Hong Kong University), Adrienne La Grange (Associate Professor in the Department of Public and Social Administration at City University of Hong Kong
