History

The college was founded by Haji Mohammad Mohsin on 1st August 1836. It completed its 175th Anniversary this year. He founded the college in Perron’s House. It is an architectural structure which is the Old building of the college even today. Initially it was known as the New Hooghly College. But, later at the time of the centenary celebration, it was renamed after its great founder.

The college runs in three shifts-Morning, Day and Evening.

English, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit
History, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics
Commerce, Law
