Hoogvliet is a town and separate borough within Rotterdam
in the Netherlands
. As of 1 January 2004, it had 36,619 inhabitants. There is also a national chain of Dutch supermarkets named after the district.
. The village was first mentioned on 26 May 1326 in the archive of the heren van Putten & Strijen inv. nr. 144. The village used to be called Oedenvliet, Oudenvliet and Odenvliet. It was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1934, when it merged with Rotterdam.
