Hormizd VI or V, twenty-eighth Sassanid King of Persia, was one of the many pretender
s who rose after the murder of Khosrau II
(590–628) in 628. He maintained himself about two years (631–632) in the district of Nisibis
. There was also a brief usurper king, not always numbered among the monarchs, called Hormizd V
in 593.
