After many years of supporting and sponsoring local sports teams in Houston, Jim
and Linda McIngvale, owners of Gallery Furniture and Westside Tennis Club
, purchased the franchise rights to be the first professional tennis team in Houston.
The schedule for 2007 consisted of 14 games for the Houston Wranglers, 7 of which were home matches to be played in Houston. All home matches were played in the 5240-seat stadium at Westside Tennis Club, home to the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships
held each year. The Wranglers encouraged all their fans to enjoy this new brand of tennis by making noise and cheering on the team. The Houston Wranglers were the only tennis team with cheerleaders.
The Wranglers ceased operations before the beginning of the 2008 World TeamTennis season.
