House system

There are six houses in Howick College, each house is then subdivided into 11 tutor groups.
  • Bacot House - named after John Thomas Watson Bacot, a surgeon who came out to the Howick area with the Fencibles. The house colour is green.
  • Bell House - named after the building Bell House situated at the Howick Colonial Village. The house colour is blue and silver.
  • Ingham House - named after the first principal of Howick College, Mr Don Ingham. The house colour is orange and the mascot is Garfield.
  • Irvine House - named after one of the early English settlers, Captain John Irvine. The house colours are yellow and purple.
  • MacDonald House - named after Captain Alexander MacDonald, who was voted into the position of Warden of Howick. The house colours are red and white the mascot is the Gorilla.
  • Minerva House - named after the one of the first ship "Minerva" which transported the first settlers and Fencibles to Howick in 1847. The house colours are pink and black.
