Hudson Manilla is an internationally published photographer from Scotland
who is best known for his intimate, yet highly stylised fashion/erotic imagery.
"He has enjoyed a mystique somewhat contrived by his reclusive nature, his inaccessibility, and the infrequency of his public appearances. A known perfectionist, there is a recurrent thread of taste, artistry, and attention to detail in his work, often presented in a subtle, understated fashion". Describing his working methods in a recent feature article, Manilla commented that his work is defined by building trust with his subjects over a prolonged, yet informal shooting period, rather than a formal, structured photoshoot.
"Manilla was first introduced to the world of photography at a young age when his grandfather gifted him a Kodak camera for his fourth birthday. Manilla now shoots with Hasselblad

His photographic interest flourished as he reached his teens, and this, combined with his love for music, meant Manilla easily fell into the role of resident photographer for local bands and musicians. After leaving school Manilla pursued a career in music, playing guitar and keyboards and touring with various bands. However, due to photography being his first love, his musical career played a diminishing role in his life, as he gradually picked up more and more photography work. His work has taken him to many locations around the world, in the main spending time in London
