He was born 11 August, 1911, the son of H.T. Prince, FRCS, LRCP, and was educated at Eastbourne College

He married in firstly, 1938, Elizabeth, daughter of Dr Walter Bapty, of Victoria BC. His first wife died in 1959. There were 2 sons of the union. He married secondly, in 1959, Claude-Andree, daughter of Andre Romanet, by whom he had a son.

The funeral took place at Chester Cathedral
