Chaudhari Hukam Singh is a politician and former Chief Minister of the state of Haryana. He was born in a Jat Hindu family in the village Dhani Phogat (Charkhhi Dadri), Bhiwani district in Haryana, India.
Hukum Singh taken a strong action against the then IG of Police SPS Rathore in the Ruchika Griharotra case by recommending the case to CBI for inquiry.
Mr hukum Singh Phogat is also a pioneer figure in fighting for SYL Link canal, Jat Arakshan & other social issues. He was one of the most honest CM of Haryana.
About SYL Master Hukam Singh, said he had always been preferring the interests of farmers rather than political interest. Therefore, he would not hesitate to attend the meeting called by any political party over the issue. He said an all-party meeting over this sensitive issue should have been convened earlier so that the leaders and the people of the region with their concerted efforts could retaliate against the anti-Haryana policies of the Punjab Government and Mr Mann
The Jats in Haryana are angry that after being recommended reservations in 1990 by the Gurnam Singh Commission, the Mandal Commission ruled them out of the OBC category. Hukum Singh, the Haryana CM when the Gurnam Singh Commission report was tabled in 1991, too, notified Jats as OBCs but his successor, Bhajan Lal, withdrew it.
