Information technology
The new group SITU (Student Information Technology Unit) allows students to help work with teachers in the IT area. They will help basic issues teachers may face and aid teachers in certain IT tasks. As an incentive, the students learn more in their area of expertise from the HIBS IT technicians, as well as sometimes going to externally run courses in their particular area, paid for by the school.Sports
Sports played at HIBS include weightlifting and power lifting, cricket and 20/20 cricket, football, rugby, hockey, basketball, mountain biking,water polo, underwater hockey and badminton.
Cricket
HIBS has one of the strongest cricket teams in wellington and they have a high tech training program which features the use of pitch vision and various other tools. Club management is shared by the board with Paul Brennan the club captain. Kevin Keys manages club statistics and the running of the HIBS Cricket website.Notable alumni
