The Hyannis Transportation Center is a bus and train terminal located off of Main Street in Hyannis, Massachusetts
. It is in the southernmost station on the Cape Cod Central Railroad
. The Hyannis Train Station
is located 250 feet to the south. Since its building, it has been the a major reason that people want to bring the MBTA to the Cape because of its building standards.
The center accommodates bus lines such as Plymouth & Brockton Lines, Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority
, and others.
There is no rail service to the actual center, but to the Hyannis Train Station is located 250 feet to the south. A small rail yard
used by the Cape Cod Central Railroad
is located on the premises to the east of the building. Until 1996, Amtrak
service on the Cape Codder served the Hyannis Train Station. It was a terminal, the other terminal being Pennsylvania Station
in New York City, until Amtrak ceased intercity rail operations on Cape Cod and discontinued the Cape Codder.
Together with Barnstable Municipal Airport, located 4,200 feet to the west, Hyannis Transportation Center and the airport create a "transportation metropolis".
