The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier is an international Twenty20 cricket tournament run under the auspices of the International Cricket Council
. The purpose is to qualify the top Associate Members for the ICC World Twenty20
. First ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was held in 2008 and it was in similar fashion to the ICC World Cup Qualifier. There were 6 participating teams in 2008 and the number was increased to 8 for the 2010 edition.. Also, the first 16-team ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, which will determine the 2 teams to join the ten Full Members at the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier

The competition was won by Ireland and the Netherlands, who shared the trophy after rain forced the final to be abandoned without a ball bowled. Both teams qualified for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20

A total of 81 countries will participate to qualify for the ten spots available in the 2012 World Twenty20 Qualifier. It will be staged in the early part of 2012 in UAE. Qualified countries include Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands, Scotland, 10 regional qualifiers (2 Africa, 2 Americas, 3 Asia, 1 EAP, 2 Europe). The two finalists will qualify for the 2012 T20 World Cup.
Currently qualified teams are: Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Uganda, Bermuda, USA, Papua New Guinea, Denmark, Italy. The ACC Trophy T20 will be help from December 1-10 and will determine the final 3 places, the top 3 teams in the competition (excluding Afghanistan).
