ISO-NE oversees the operation of New England

Its Board of Directors and its over 400 employees have no financial interest or ties to any company doing business in the region's wholesale electricity marketplace.
ISO-NE was created in 1997 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
, as a replacement for the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL), which was created in 1971.
