Ian Buchanan is a Scottish

as Dr. Greg Madden.
His first major work in the United States
was playing the characters Duke Lavery
on the soap General Hospital
from 1986 to 1989, and Ian McFyfer in series three and four of the comedy classic It's Garry Shandling's Show
. In 1990 Buchanan appeared with Peter Falk in "Columbo Cries Wolf". After leaving General Hospital he appeared on the series Twin Peaks
from 1990 to 1991, and as Peter Lawford
in Marilyn & Bobby: Her Final Affair. He returned to daytime television in 1993, joining the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful
as Dr James Warwick; he left the show in 1999, and after a small part in the movie Panic Room
(2002), returned to soaps
, playing Joshua Temple on Port Charles
(2002–2003). He also voiced the super-villain Ultra-Humanite
in a few episodes of the animated series "Justice League".
In April 2004 he returned for a guest appearance on The Bold and the Beautiful and, in May 2005, joined the cast of All My Children as Dr. Greg Madden, who was killed off on 4 July 2006. He also played the role of First, a replicator in Stargate SG-1
