Ilathur is also spelled as Elathur. The famous Madhunadeshwarar temple is located on the banks of a lovely lake. This temple's Shiva Linga is believed to have been created by the Saint Agasthya under an old Tarmarind tree which had a huge Bees nest and the linga over a periord had honey dripping on it..Hence the name Madhunadeshwarar.. the Tarmarind tree is still inside the temple.. This temple was restored recently. It also has a famous shaneeshwara which can cure bad luck...
