In Love and Death is the second studio album by American rock
band The Used
. It was released on September 28, 2004 and has since been certified gold. It is their most well-received and successful album to date. This was the first album for which Alex Pardee
did the artwork, and he has done all artwork for The Used since, excluding 2009's Artwork. The title and music reference a number of tragic events that surrounded vocalist Bert McCracken
during the album's production, notably the death of his pregnant girlfriend.
Album features The Used's heaviest tracks ("Take it Away" and "Sound Effects and Overdramatics") and emotional tracks ("All That I've Got", and "Hard to Say").
