which won 36 out of 42 seats. The popularity of Chandrababu Naidu and the unpopularity of Congress in the state, allowed for a landslide victory for BJP-TDP alliance. Even though TDP was not officially part of the NDA, TDP provided outside support to Atal Behari Vajpayee and the NDA.
