Indigenous Community Television, or ICTV, is a satellite
television
service that broadcasts television programs produced by, and for, indigenous people in remote communities around Australia
.
Programs are contributed regularly by Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Media, Pilbara and Kimberley Aboriginal Media, Warlpiri Media and Ngaanyatjarra Media. From 2002 to 2007 these were uplinked by Imparja Television
on their Optus C1 satellite channel 31, while from 2009 onwards they have been uplinked by Westlink
. The service has been rebroadcast by terrestrial transmitters in many remote communities.
This service, available using a satellite receivers anywhere in Australia
and also retransmitted in many BRACS (Broadcasting for Remote Aboriginal Communities Scheme) communities in Western and Central Australia, ceased on 12 July 2007 in order to make way for the National Indigenous Television
(NITV) service.
ICTV Limited however continued to operate. In April 2009, it launched an online video service. On 13 November 2009, ICTV re-commenced broadcasting, via Westlink

History
ICTV Limited was founded in 2001. In 2002 it began to broadcast as part of the Imparja Info Channel. This was a community TV style channel run by Imparja, screening predominantly local indigenous programmes (ICTV) and Bushvision. Many remote indigenous communities in central and north eastern Australia had analog terrestrial repeaters for this service, which utilised community licences.This service, available using a satellite receivers anywhere in Australia
