History

Infinite System started playing in March 2004 under the name, "Something Wicked," in a basement in Mt. Vernon, NY. It started with Dave Cohen on Drums and Mark Usurin on guitar/vocals. When Steve Barboza was recruited to play guitar, the initial lineup was complete. In November 2004, the band recorded and produced a CD consisting of 5 original tracks: Fire Gods, Human Race, Empty Treasure, Filled, and an Instrumental track (now titled "Something Wicked").

For the first two years, Something Wicked searched for a bass player. Seeing no positive results, they recruited a friend to fill in on bass for the purpose of playing shows. Without a permanent bass player, they were able to perform at New York City clubs CBGB and The Continental.

In April 2006, bassist Luke Sheridan responded to their ad on a local online bulletin board. After 1 audition, Luke was invited to join the band and became the permanent bass player for the next 2 years.

In September 2006, the band joined a local Independent Record Label called Seventh Level Records. Due to legal issues, the band needed to change their name. "Infinite System," was chosen to be the new band identity.

Early 2008 saw the departure of bassist Luke Sheridan. The job was temporarily given to friend and bassist for punk-metal band Leviathan, Chris Gardiner, who helped out for the better part of 2008-2009, but left for personal reasons in July 2009.

The Sound

Infinite System combines a mix of rock and metal to create a blend of “Hybrid Rock” – their songs can be compared to bands such as: Pearl Jam, Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Coheed and Cambria. Primary songwriters/guitarists Mark Usurin and Steve Barboza, influenced by everyone from Cat Power to Carcass, portray the idea that a band doesn't have to fit in to one distinct style.
