The Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (commonly known as IFSA-Butler) is a nonprofit study abroad provider for U.S. and Canadian college students. The Institute for Study Abroad exists to "coordinate study abroad opportunities around the world for students from all over the country." . However, the organization is now a separate entity with its own administration, budget, staff benefits and policies. IFSA-Butler is still legally affiliated with Butler University for transcripts and academic approvals of new university affiliates.

IFSA-Butler was founded in 1988 by Dr. David Gray and Tom Roberts. IFSA-Butler was created to prepare students before departure, as well as to provide support and assistance in the host country after arrival.For several years after its founding, IFSA-Butler was officially part of Butler University
