International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth

The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), formerly the International Poverty Centre, is a partnership between the Poverty Practice of the Bureau for Development Policy, UNDP and the Government of Brazil. Located in Brasilia, IPC-IG facilitates South-South learning with the aim of expanding developing countries’ knowledge and capacities to design, implement and evaluate effective policies towards the attainment of high inclusive growth. IPC-IG is a hub for South-South dialogue on applied research and training on development policy.
IPC-IG’s work aims at equipping policymakers from developing countries with the skills necessary to formulate socially inclusive policies and to learn from successful policy experiences in the South. Strengthening capacity for policy analysis and implementation in the field through South-South learning is one of the services provided by IPC-IG to the development community and UNDP Country Offices.
The creation of IPC-IG in Brazil corresponded with a decentralization effort undertaken by UNDP with the purpose of bringing knowledge services closer to UNDP partners around the world. It joins the Democratic Governance Centre (Oslo, Norway) and the Drylands Development Centre (Nairobi, Kenya) as part of UNDP's effort to decentralize its key practice areas and build up substantive capacity for policy analysis and implementation in the field.
